Reporting to the Treasurer the financial analyst is part of a team supporting the debt program and cash management operations and merchant services in the Office of the Treasurer

The Office of the Treasurer is part of the Financial Management Services organization and oversees the University's $2.8 billion debt portfolio, cash operations with annual cash flows of $4 billion and merchant service with $100 million in annual revenue. The financial analyst provides analytical support for a wide range of initiatives led by the Treasurer's Office. This position requires prior experience in Treasury, strong financial modeling skills and knowledge of general accounting principles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and update existing financial models to manage debt and operating liquidity
  • Develop cross-walk between cash flow forecast and financial statements
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Contribute to the implementation of core informational systems to support the treasury and debt programs.
  • Participate in the implementation of OBI dashboards to manage the debt program
  • Perform escheatment process in accordance with applicable laws, review, redesign current process and develop procedures
  • Research and claim unclaimed property due to Stanford
  • Develop presentation materials reports for senior management
  • Provide financial support for ad-hoc projects as assigned
  • Develop system requirements to link cash forecast to financial statements and budget forecast
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
.
  • Bachelor's degree in business finance economics or accounting required.
  • Minimum of three years with progressively increasing responsibilities in related field.
  • Working knowledge of Treasury functions, account reconciliations.
  • Quantitative and financial management and analytical skills, including:
  • Knowledge of all relevant accounting practices; fund accounting principles, financial statements analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced financial analysis / forecasting / modeling experience required
  • Proficiency with principles and practices of finance, forecasting budgeting, trend and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with GAAP, especially cash flow statement preparation
  • Ability to identify use technology to gather, organize and analyze data, interpret and synthesize complex information.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple, complex assignments to successful completion within tight deadlines.
  • Accuracy, initiative, attention to detail, strong time management, organization and planning skills required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as work as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software or applications to produce analysis and presentations.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financial systems, experience developing functional requirements for systems.
