By now you've probably heard that on Monday, April 30, the cast of "Battleship" will present a never-before-seen clip from the upcoming movie on MTV at 7:56 p.m. ET.

You probably know all about the 30-minute interview with the stars that will follow on MTV.com and how you can get your question answered by submitting a video or text to MTV.com or Twitter via @MTVNews, using the hashtags #MTVFirst and #askBATTLESHIP.

But that's probably not enough for you, since you simply cannot wait until the clip's premiere on Monday night. Luckily, we have a sneak peek at the exclusive scene, and it looks like things are going to get a little explosive.

"Battleship" is the latest adaptation from Hasbro, and boasts one of the hottest young casts of any movie this summer. Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker all star in the upcoming sci-fi action flick and will participate in the extended chat on MTV.com immediately after the clip airs.

Kitsch spoke with MTV News last fall about his latest collaboration with director Peter Berg, who gave the Canadian actor his big break on the television adaptation of "Friday Night Lights." "You don't know what to expect with 'Battleship,' especially when we team up, Pete and I. You're going to get a lot of laughs, guaranteed," Kitsch said. "And, of course, the action is going to speak for itself. It's huge."

Don't forget to join Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Alexander Skarsgard and Brooklyn Decker for "MTV First: Battleship" on Monday, April 30 at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV!

Crackdown On Download Bots Meant Installs For Top iOS Apps Took A Dive In March

web-botsDownloads for the top 200 free apps in the U.S. iTunes app store took a 30 percent dive in March, according to Fiksu, a Charles River Ventures-backed company that helps mobile developers find users cheaply. The culprit? Two things. One is that we're just coming out of the very lucrative holiday season, when downloads spike and people get new phones that they're eager to experiment with through trying tons of apps. The other may be Apple's crackdown on download bots, or automated programs that downloads apps tens of thousands of times to help them break into the top of the charts. Fiksu says that the top 200 free U.S. iPhone apps saw 4.45 million downloads per day in March, down from 6.35 million per day in February. Apple issued a warning to developers during the first week of February, telling them not to use services that explicitly manipulate the charts.

30 Seconds To Mars' Next Album Will Be A 'Dramatic Departure'

Jared Leto says they'll be 'bringing the world inside our process' in an 'intimate' broadcast on Friday.
By James Montgomery

For most of 2011 — when they weren't setting Guinness World Records or winning MTV awards — 30 Seconds To Mars repeatedly ducked questions about their future, getting glib when asked about reports that they were calling it quits.

Of course, much to the relief of the Echelon, on Tuesday, the band put any and all speculation of a split to rest, announcing that they had begun work on the follow-up to their This Is War album ... which sort of raises the question: Was 30 STM just messing with us all along? Well, no. Turns out, they were about as unsure of their future as anyone else, as Jared Leto explained to MTV News.

"We weren't playing coy; we were on the road for two years, four months or so, and people started to ask us about a new album, and we didn't have any plans. We didn't know what the future was," he explained. "We had been working for a really long time. We went from A Beautiful Lie right into the studio, right onto the road, I hadn't had a significant break in years. So, at that point, I don't think we knew what was going to happen for the future, so rather than make something up, we just told the truth: We didn't know."

That uncertainty began to change as soon as the band finally took time to decompress following their record-setting world tour. Leto — who admitted he's "always writing songs ... it's basically become a habit at this point" — took a glance at his notebooks and realized that he was feeling recharged and excited about the possibilities a new album would present. Though, before the band started work on the new album, they had to make one thing clear: This time around, they'd try very hard to not try very hard.

"We made a commitment not to tour for all of 2012 ... and I think that helped provide a lot of clarity," Leto laughed. "And we realized there's no way this new record could be like [This Is War,] because the last record was so conceptual and wrapped around this idea of conflict, because we were battling a corporation and being sued for $30 million. That was our lives, being hunkered down in the studio for a couple years, fighting this conglomerate. Of course, now, different time, different state of mind, so this album is definitely a dramatic departure."

That said, there are still some things 30 STM will keep the same on the new album ... namely, incorporating the voices of their worldwide fanbase (they held a series of collaborative recording sessions — so-called "Summits" — during the making of This Is War) and crisscrossing the globe to find inspiration. In fact, Leto rang in 2012 by making a trek to India, where inspiration was definitely not in short supply.

"I was recording in India, and had an amazing experience over there, and came back with some really great material. And not so much that this is a World Beat record, it's more about the experiences and how they're influencing me in creative terms, emotional terms," he explained. "I recorded a tabla player and an Indian folk singer, and I'm hoping I'm able to utilize that on a song. There was one afternoon that we climbed up above a city called Jodhpur, we were on a cliff with a 2,000-year-old fortress behind us. And they call it the blue city; all of the roofs and buildings are painted blue, and when you climb up this mountain you can get a great view of all of it.

"So it was about sunset, and I had a portable set up, so we started recording. I had an external speaker, and the kids started to hear this song I was working on," he continued. "So they started climbing out onto the rooftops of the city, and soon they were scrambling up the side of this mountain, and before we knew it, we were surrounded by dozens of these amazing Indian kids, singing and dancing along to this recording process ... it was really mind-blowing."

And on Friday, fans will be able to get a first listen to some of 30 STM's new material when the band hosts their second It's a way of welcoming their worldwide fanbase into their laboratory, and Leto is thrilled to pull back the curtain. Because though they may be making a "dramatic departure" on album #4, some things will remain the same.

"There are a lot of people around the world who just can't jump on a plane and be part of a show, and that's what we provide [with VyRT]. The event on Friday is different, it's not based around an existing show, it's a show we created and designed, and it's going to be a lot of fun for us," he said. "There will be some music, there will be some mistakes. We're bringing the world inside our process, it will be intimate. I'm going to play some songs, some old songs, some new songs and then maybe some newer songs I've been working on. I'll play a piece of a song here or there — I doubt I'm going to play an entire song, but you never know. It's new territory."

Kanye West, Kid Cudi Working On Video Project In Middle East?

Sources say Kanye is filming 'top-secret' project in Qatar.

Kanye West and Kid Cudi seem to be up to something. The two are rumored to be shooting a video project in the Middle East, in Qatar.

Kanye and a film crew were spotted in the nation late last week, outside the capital of Doha in Education City. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the country's Doha Film Institute is helping back the project. And according to student sightings, Kanye, along with desert animals like camels, was spotted on set. Other sources say that locals were used as extras and that they were dressed in a "culturally sensitive" manner.

A source said that the project will be similar to Yeezy's 2010 short film, "Runaway," which was released in the lead-up to his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

"It's going to be approximately 30 minutes long, in between a long-form music video and short film," the source said. "Kanye conceived the story, which is set in the Gulf. It's supposed to showcase the beauty of the region, a piece that's culturally sensitive and embraces the customs and traditions of the region."

Further information about Cudi's role in the flick wasn't given, which seems to be the way the rapper wants it. An eyewitness told the Doha News that "the whole thing was pretty top-secret."

The video shoot comes as fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music compilation, which may coincide with the release of this super-secret short film. And with Kid Cudi appearing on the album, it would make sense for the two to be doing something together.

While there is still no release date for the G.O.O.D. album, Mannie Fresh shared that it's all "pretty close" to finished. "The cool thing about G.O.O.D. Music is it's a bunch of great ideas and I'm one of those ideas," he explained. "[Kanye's] trying to find the most talented producers, most talented artists, put 'em all in a room and say, 'Go for it. Y'all energy, like whatever is creative to y'all.' "

Berlin?s Startup Innovators Create A Factory To Call Their Own

Screen Shot 2012-04-04 at 12.07.07 PMThere is a chapter in the history of technology startups, or perhaps more a book, that will be dedicated to Berlin. As with other cities, but particularly those that, in 2012, are attracting what I like to call The International Brigade of startup entrepreneurs, Berlin is plowing its own path? its own, distinct, ecosystem. But there is something uniquely Berlin about how this history is playing out. For if this were the Middle Ages, we'd be talking that time when the villagers began demanding more rights from the feudal, Teutonic knights. Perhaps rising up to reclaim their destiny. Just as Berlin started out with a handful of entrepreneurs dominating the scene - sometimes unwilling to share the wealth with their serfs in the field - now a new wave is bringing a new, collaborative and organic approach. To that end, this new wave has already begin to manifest itself physically. Two years ago, on a winter's day in Berlin, I sat in a coffee shop with Alexander Ljung and David No?l of SoundCloud talking about this new breed of startups. "We're mentoring each other. It's starting to happen," said Ljung, excitedly. Then, earlier this year, I met a man sitting behind me at a dinner in Munich. He tapped me on the shoulder. "I have something to show you," he said. I turned around and he proceeded to show me pictures of a giant building that sat on the old border of East and West Berlin. "We're building a factory," he said, with a smile. This week, that 'factory' breaks cover.

Olympian outs stalker on Facebook, triggers debate

Ariane Friedrich of Germany celebrates after winning the women's high jump during the IAAF World Challenge ISTAF 2010 at the Olympic Stadium on August 22, 2010 in Berlin, Germany.

By Andy Eckardt , NBC News Producer

MAINZ, Germany ? Ariane Friedrich, a 28-year-old German high-jumper currently training for the 2012 London Games, is taking on more than one Olympic-size challenge: she is also publically challenging an alleged stalker.?The German athlete from Frankfurt says that she recently received an email with a sexually explicit photo from a stalker.

In what some see as a controversial move, she chose to out the stalker on Facebook ? posting his full name, excerpts from the email he sent her and his home town.

?It?s time to act, it?s time to defend myself. And that?s what I?m doing. No more and no less,? Friedrich wrote on her Facebook page on Saturday.?

In Germany, where strict online data protection laws exist, Friedrich's decision to ?name and shame? her alleged stalker is receiving broad attention and has triggered a heated debate about the moral and legal implications of the online allegations.?

Fears of a web-mob
Friedrich, who is not just an athlete, but also a police officer, also filed a legal complaint against her offender, according to German media reports.

While the move has triggered lots of positive responses from her fans on her Facebook page, with posts calling her ?courageous,? there was also growing criticism.

?As much as I can understand your anger about the stalker, you as a police officer should not just pillory somebody on the Internet,? one person wrote on Friedrich?s Facebook page.?

Gero Breloer / AP

Germany's Ariane Friedrich reacts in the Women's High Jump final during the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in this August 2009 file photo.

?The reaction of Mrs. Friedrich is of course understandable, but she reacted too fast,? Dr. Thilo Weichert, a data privacy law expert in Kiel, Germany, told NBC News.
?
?It needs to be checked first, if the named person is really the correct one. Anybody can use a wrong name on Facebook,? Weichert said.

On Monday, many of the critical Facebook posts referenced a recent incident in which the equivalent of a lynch mob turned against a 17-year-old in the northern German city of Emden, after police had arrested him for questioning in the murder case of an 11-year-old girl.

The teen was later declared innocent and released, but the social media storm led to a gathering of an angry crowd in front of the local police station. Afterwards the boy and his family felt so harassed that they relocated to an undisclosed location.

Don?t need the distraction
Friedrich?s coaches aren?t exactly welcoming the move. On Saturday, Guenter Eisinger, her coach and manager, tried to downplay the incident, saying he is concerned that the growing media attention will negatively affect her preparations for the summer games.

?The issue has nothing to do with the public,? Eisinger told German news agency dpa on Saturday. ?We can do without any stress factors.??
