?Abstract? The rationality of the spatial layout about the retail business plays the very important role in the economic development, the reasonable distribution of resources, the citizen?s satisfaction for consuming. According to the statistics collected from the National First Economy Investigation and the Beijing Area Statistical Year Book, it uses two kinds of methods to analyze the rationality problem of the spatial layout about the retail business and to measure the cooperation degree between the location of retailing units and the population, purchasing power etc.The first method is to build a normal index system to reflect the spatial layout. These indexes could show the general condition: the layout of urban is better than the layout of rural in geography and it matches well with the location of population.The second method is the main creative and most important. To build a economic model to measure the rationality neglecting other factors, mainly considering the developing level of retailing and the general purchasing power of citizens. And build a model just like Engel Curve to explain the economic meaning of the spots around the curve and the movement of the curve. In the application, choosing a series of indexes separately to show the the developing level of retailing and the general purchasing power of citizens. Then, get the general scores, make the spots down in the economic model. From the results, we could find whether it is rational, the degree of the rationality, the sorted size of the rationality about the eighteen districts in Beijing.From the careful analyses above, we could find there are a lot of problems about the spatial layout of retail business every districts. Some are over-retailed, others are over-purchased. Then, explain the different problems between the districts according to the different situations, given the related policies and suggestions so as to show the future developing directions of spatial layout of retail business for every districts.Moreover, it is important to consider the phonemes of city-extending and population expanding. The suburb nearby will be the hot place for immigrants, where the population density would become higher, and the purchasing power becomes enhanced. It will be a potential place of retail business in the future. So, it is important to optimize the retailing service power in the main four urban districts; to maintain generally in Fengtai district and Shijingshan district; the retailing should quit from the Haidian and Chaoyang districts and towards to Tongzhou, Shunyi, Changping districts to satisfy the increasing demand of the purchasing.In the last, there is a predict for the direction of the spatial layout of retail business. In the condition of non-expanding of the city, it will form some functional divided areas with the general planning and the developing of the economy. In the condition of expanding outside of the city, Beijing-Tianjin Integration is the most feasible and realizable. So the retail business will locate properly along the path between the two cities. It will form a super commercial joint around the commercial ring of Bohai Sea and drive the developments of retail business in the cities and towns around.
