Interviews: 5 Things You Should Avoid Saying in a Job Interview ...
By Paul Cook
Preparation is an extremely important part of an interview. You will have to put your best face forward because you will only have a short time amount to make an impression on which you will be judged for the job position. Therefore, it is extremely crucial that you prepare well for the interview and make the best possible impression to be seriously considered for the job. In this regards, there are certain things that you should avoid saying or asking at all cost because they will completely jeopardize your interview. Therefore, you should avoid saying the following things in a job interview or you may very well bid the job goodbye:
I do not know about the business of your company
Saying this will mean that you have come to the interview unprepared and hence, are not serious about the job. Therefore, you should always research about the company and have an idea about their business. This will not only enable you to impress your interviewer but will also increase your chances as you will be able to communicate how your skills will contribute to the business.
I do not have any weaknesses
As important as it is to make the most favorable impression, refrain from telling your interviewer that you do not have any weaknesses. The reason for this is that it roughly translates as this: ?I am narrow-minded? or ?I?m being dishonest to you?. The employer expects you to be honest and have an answer prepared for this question. You should articulate your answer in a tactful manner because the weakness that you will communicate with them should not compromise your chances for the job.
I hated my last job/ boss
This is an absolute no-no. No matter how much you hated your last job or how much of a nightmare your last boss was; never cite that as the reason for you leaving your last job. You should not speak any ill of your last company and should handle this question in a tactful manner. If you do not do this, two things will go against you. Firstly, you are implying that you have poor people skills and secondly, your employer would be put off thinking that you will be doing the same against them when you will leave them.
No questions, thanks
At the end of the interview, your interviewer will ask you if you have any questions. Make sure that you have questions prepared because if you do not have any questions to ask, this will only mean that you are not interested in the company.
How much will you pay?
Never ask about your salary or make any negotiations until a job offer is made to you.? In the round of interviews, your employees are evaluating whether you are the right person for the job. Once they have determined this, then they will put their offer forward. This is the appropriate time to discuss and negotiate money.

Wouldn?t that assure your family of food on the table for the next few weeks?

Connect people in the group by making introductions to those who could potentially do business with one another.
All these guarantee that you will get more leads for your business. Just make sure you create a group that really targets your wanted market, in your niche. Be selective also so that you eliminate all unwanted and un-influential leads from your list/group.

Each impression is a visual presentation of your product or service. If you target placements of your banner ads campaigns well, they will be very effective in promoting your business.
Here are some tips when using banner advertising: Do not blindly place ads. Practice careful selection in posting them, with your target audience in mind, so to avoid wastage of money and other resources.
After making a shortlist of sites where to place your ads, get prominent ad spots ? not some bottom space which merits little or no attention.
Make your ads stand out from the rest of your competition who are most likely selling similar products ? without irritating visitors with irritating colors or content which do not make sense.
Do some testing ? post different types of ads, and test each one for effectiveness. Test ad spots also, and see which works best. Once you?ve determined which ones are the best, then you?re off to creating your most effective banner ad campaigns!
Email blasts. An email blast is the process of contacting a huge number of potential clients through email. Very similar to direct mail, an email blast differs hugely with the fact that you may personalize each message you send out ? which is a huge thing in terms of building business relationships.
How does it work, first, you must have a list of recipients ready ? maybe gathered through referrals, database purchase (although not recommended because of the lack of controlled standards), or by gathering all the email addresses of former clients. Design a template, working the content so that it answers the need of the recipients.
Then merge the email body with the contact list ? and voila, your email blast is sent in one go.
How can email blasts be effective? First, you can send your potential clients regular updates and emails to promote your products or your brand. This can also be effective in increasing repeat sales from past customers. The point is, emails remind people of the existence of your business. The truth is, there are so many people out there who are wondering ?if you?re still in business,? so remind them that you are still there to fill in their need. Sending regular emails keeps you on top of mind recall ? allowing no or very little opportunity for your competition to creep up on a former client?s need and demand.
There are various ways to get your brand going virtually. Try any one of these techniques, and notice how marketing for the now generation is much more thorough and easier. No excuse for you not to succeed!

Fans taunt Bruins goalie Tim Thomas for White House snub
Fans held up images of President Obama to taunt Bruins goalie Tim Thomas at the NHL playoff game in Washington. The Bruins beat the Capitals 4-3.
With Boston Bruins goalie Tim?Thomas back in the nation's capital, Washington Capitals fans weren't going to let him forget his skipped trip to the White House.
Skip to next paragraphAt Game 3 of the Bruins-Capitals playoff series Monday night, several spectators showed up with pictures of President Barack Obama and signs taunting Thomas. In January, he didn't show up when the rest of the Bruins were invited to the Stanley Cup champions' traditional visit to the president's office.
Thomas, born in Michigan, said at the time he believes the federal government "has grown out of control."
Most of the Obama signs were displayed by fans sitting near the glass behind the net Thomas defended in the first and third periods of Monday's game.

What happened in Monday night's game? Thomas made 29 saves and ignored the taunting from fans.?
Suddenly, Bruins-Capitals turned into Flyers-Penguins, replete with scraps and all sorts of scrums ? not to mention quite a bit of offense thrown in.
From the high stick that knocked off Boston captain Zdeno Chara's helmet, to the cross-check to Rich Peverley's face at game's end that earned a match penalty for Washington's Nicklas Backstrom, and all sorts of mayhem in between, Game 3 "was kind of like a rugby game," Capitals coach Dale Hunter said.
"The only thing that's disappointing for me personally is that this is the third time in three games our player has been cross-checked in the face. ... You hope that those things don't get out of hand," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "Somebody else, not us, has to deal with that."
Thanks to Chara, the Bruins came out on top.
Chara scored the tiebreaking goal during 4-on-4 play with less than 2 minutes left, and the reigning Stanley Cup champion Bruins finally solved playoff rookie goalie Braden Holtby, beating the Capitals 4-3 Monday night to take a 2-1 lead in the first-round Eastern Conference series.
"It's getting more emotional," Chara said. "Players are more involved. It's starting to be more and more physical."
The 6-foot-9 owner of a 100-plus mph slap shot was involved in pretty much every key play: He was in the penalty box when Alexander Semin scored the game's first goal for Washington; he had two assists; and his final shot from the right circle appeared to get deflected by Capitals defenseman Roman Hamrlik ? "Lucky goal," Hunter said ? on its way past Holtby.
"It was nice to see him get that. He got clipped there in the head; a little frustrated from the non-call. He had a penalty early in the game for I thought just holding his own," Julien said. "So he's been good at not getting frustrated at those things. Because he stays with it, he ends up getting rewarded with a big goal."
Game 4 is Thursday in Washington, before the best-of-seven series moves back to Boston for Game 5 on Saturday.

Scientist wins $3 million renewal of one of longest-running NIH grants to Scripps Research

Scripps Research Institute
LA JOLLA, CA April 19 The Scripps Research Institute has received a $3 million grant renewal from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for support of scientist James Hoch's studies on bacterial signaling proteins. The four-year award will fund the ninth term of a grant that began in 1973making it one of the longest-running NIH grants awarded to Scripps Research.
"We started out with an important problem that no one knew much about or had good tools to study," said Hoch, a professor in Scripps Research's Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine. "Our tools have become more sophisticated over the years, but our awareness of the true complexity of bacterial signaling has grown, too."
Hoch's research under the grant was initially aimed at understanding the signals that trigger "sporulation," the developmental process by which some bacteria suspend their normal growth and form tough, seed-like spores. One of the best-known spore-forming species, the infamous anthrax bacterium Bacillus anthracis, can survive this way indefinitely in soil or air; when its spores are inhaled or otherwise get into the body of a host, they switch back to growth-mode and cause frequently lethal infections.
Hoch and his lab at Scripps Research first identified the master gene that was required for sporulation in Bacillus subtilis, a closely related but safer-to-work-with species. In the mid-1980s, with the advent of gene cloning and DNA sequencing, the team purified the gene's product, a DNA-binding protein called Spo0A that serves as the bacterium's master trigger for sporulation.
Hoch's studies of Spo0A and its partner signaling proteins led to one of the earliest descriptions of a "two-component signaling pathway," a simple communication network that enables bacteria to sense and respond to specific stimuli. Such pathways start at the surface of bacterial cells, where sensor histidine kinase enzymes detect specific environmental factors and become activated; these activated enzymes in turn activate "response regulator" proteins inside the bacterial cell, which then switch on the appropriate bacterial gene responses.
"Bacteria use these signal transduction pathways to recognize and respond to the host tissue environment, the presence of other bacteria, and the presence of antibiotics or innate antibacterial peptides," Hoch said, "so the understanding of these interactions is essential to understanding bacterial infections."
In 1990, Hoch and his colleagues described a common biochemical mechanism used in these signaling pathways, a "phospho-relay" in which activating phosphate groups are passed from one signaling molecule to the next. A decade later, the researchers showed with crystal structure experiments precisely how these relay interactions occur. In 2009, in collaboration with physicist Terence Hwa at the University of California, San Diego, they developed a new cutting-edge computational techniqueundreamt of four decades agoto predict interaction sites on a large set of bacterial signaling proteins.
Hoch's major aim continues to be the identification and analysis of bacterial signaling interactionsbasic bacterial biology, in other words. But his findings have revealed innate signal-blocking enzymes and signal-transmitting protein interaction sites, both of which suggest strategies for translational medicine.
"Signal transduction pathways have not been widely exploited as antibiotic targets," he said, "yet by disrupting them one could stop the production of toxins and other virulence factors, and even interfere directly with essential bacterial functions."
